How to Write a Script - Story Structure

Now that it's almost impossible to watch an evening's TV drama without seeing either non linearity or group stories and every second or third movie (including Titanic) employ these elements we have to stop assuming that the 3 act chronological one hero structure is the only form. It's a terrific form but it's by no means the only one and never has been. And - great news! - these films work to patterns so you can plan them (even Pulp Fiction) See my You tube videos about this

@NawDatAintMe don't be carried away by Tarantino's success, too many wannabe filmmakers do. You have to learn the rules first, so you could break them. Yes, Tarantino didn't go to film school, but that's why he's a genius - he learned about storytelling just by watching other films

great. short and straight to the point

@NawDatAintMe not necessarily. I took a class in screenplay writing where we broke down Pulp Fiction. The movie does indeed have the three act structure, only that bits of the structure are rearranged to follow a non linear order. The more advanced you get the more you can toy with the structure of a story. But yeah, Tarantino is an extraordinary storyteller.
