What is that terrible dinging sound about?!
-
@GM572 These cars are compacted to make shipping them to a shredder easier. The shredder sorts it all out based on density once it is in small pieces. The change from under the seats even goes in a little pile of it's own ;)

@ltrmstrfn1234 Haha

I'm going to use this video as a training video for our new workers at our scrap yard. haha!

Well I really hope that would be the case, I mean.... everything should be recycled separately, not just tossed into the the melting pot with the steel. Now, from what I see in the video, everything is still in place when they compact those cars :| . Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm seeing things.
Anyway, thanks for the info. Cheers!

@GM572 I read a Readers Digest article a few years back when I was in high school - it explained the workings of a scrapyard - apparently the scrapyard the article was written about would get the cars, strip them (including recovering the copper wire, working bulbs, plastic, rubber tyres etc) and bale what was left over (a car without anything inside) then send the bale to the steel mill. The rubber, copper wire etc. was recycled.

"Don't be scared it doesn't hurt" when you're run over XD

Let me get this straight: they crush the cars with all the copper from the wiring still inside and just send them to the steel mill, ore they pull the copper out first?
this is stupid with the sound effects
