This is absolutely effective and, frankly, extremely positive for the masseuse/care giver as well. We've done it for our cat for years and his recovery from a major surgery was cut down to 30% of expected time due to reduced stress. The vet could not beliee it. I've massaged dogs we've met on nature walks instead of just petting and the owners (and the dogs) flip out - the owners ask for tips. It's a win win!
