@laurasautographs My suggestion would be to try attaching the handle "longways" with the length of the kayak rather than across the width of the kayak. If your surface just has too much curvature you might have better like with something like a stickypod (stickypodDOTcom). I'm not wild about their pricing, but it might be able to handle curved surfaces a little bit better.
@laurasautographs What sort of suction cup are you using? This is what I used: harborfreightDOTcom/dual-cup-suction-lifter-46134.html The price has gone up since I bought mine. :( If your surface is very curved, then it may not stick very well as it's intended for flat surfaces. I did discover that there were fewer actual large "flat" areas on the Miata than I had expected.
Thanks. I decided to give it a try, but it seems like it only holds for a couple minutes, how do I get it to stay on better? Do I have to push it down harder or something?
@laurasautographs I would think that it should work still work, though depending on how much force is exerted and if the suction cups are completely submerged it might make things more prone to sliding around or popping loose. I would recommend using a tether (I used shoestring) just to be on the safe side, but unless you're doing rough whitewater kayaking, then it will probably work out perfectly fine.

I saw this in another video and I was thinking about doing this for my kayak. Do you think it would still work if it gets a little wet?
