December 89 Rally in South Park, Sofia

Early in December 1989 the South Park in Sofia attracted many sympatizers of the still shaky and doubtful opposition against the ruling communists.

Bills calling for an united opposition and for the rehabilitation of victims of the communist terror have been displayed and signatures for constitutional amendments collected.

This clip of a TV documentary by renowned director Atanas Kiryakov brings to mind a very grim, damp-snowed but emotionally thrilling afternoon.
