i guess i'm growing up in the wrong century:) smoking seemed to be so accepted back then......not so now....but i stll luv my ciggs.....so i say smoke on:)

So? Tobacco companies sponsored many films. The first filmed advertisement made in the silent years showed a judge a priest a mother and another authority figure lighting up. Filmed smoking was and is a tactic to influence the audience that its signifies.

Cigarettes were used as a prop in those days...notice that most of them actually never smoked and just push out the smoke, not inhale it. There is a scene where Hedy Lamarr was shown exhaling a puff that took so long to end..it was a scene from "Ecstasy", as she was staring out the window.

WOW I wish smoking was not deadly! It's funny how it looked so classy back then and now it looks cheap! I think if we hadn't discovered the link to cancer we would all be puffing away! Myself anyway! Bette Davis makes me wanna light up every time I see her!
