BMA: Dr Ashok Pathak, Chairman of the BMA's Staff and Associate Specialist (SAS) Negotiating Committee, discusses what SAS doctors should do to prepare for the implementation of the new SAS contract.

Ashok explains what the job planning process entails, particularly how to approach and discuss the issue with employers. The interview also explains what support the BMA can offer SAS doctors during their own contract changes.

  • Good grief. I am sure there was a point to this video somewhere, but I believe it got lost in the David Brent-esque management speak. Marginally clearer than mud.

  • All our interviewees are doctors and not professional broadcasters. We are constantly reviewing the way these clips are produced.

  • A merry game of a pathological inability to keep things simple and workable on the part of the NHS bosses - perhaps it serves to hide the real agenda of cost-cutting and off-loading the burden of state onto the tender mercies of the private sector - and a similar affliction on the part of the workers/doctors' leaders who just can't say no, enough is enough, but seem committed to just go with the flow and make the most of a dire situation. No wonder not a lot of doctors voted.
