the name was based on how he didn't like how people were coming up to him after he did magic asking "can you levitate 50 ft high? Can you make the statue of liberty dissapear?" He said on a page about the trick that he liked David and he's a really nice guy and a great magician.

I'm pretty sure that he doesn't really "hate" Copperfield. Any "real" magician will tell you that even if he doesn't like DC that Copperfield had done wonders for magic. He's still a family name...not as much as Criss Angel or David Blaine but still good at packing a house. Personally, I think Henning was a great performer and really brought magic to the mainstream TV audience.
