Maybe this is just me but on my car i have 2 spots for car decks... like one on top of the other, one of them has my dual deck and the other has a plastic plate... is there any kind of CB radio that i can get that would fit into the dash like a car deck would?

Hahahah how do you fuckers survive lol.... Hooooly shit!!!!

If you go to the fuse box you could in counter engine feed back. You could hook your red wire too the lighter plug inn,it should be 12 volt constant, just don't forget to shut it off when car is not running.

@auctionmusic Just buy a magnetic one..
-
@jvanderman the red would be positive, black is negative and the orange would be a 12v constant. is provides power 24/7 to save things like memory channels. your car stereo would have the same. on a stereo, it keeps the clock keeping track of time, saves preset stations, etc. hope this helps.

there is an easier way, just spend 2 bucks at walmart, and get a cigarette lighter plug, and wire it to the cb, so that u just plug it into the cigarette lighter. or, if u wanted to run it to the fuse box, and do it RIGHT, you actually take out ur fuse box, and run a wire from the battery, to the back of ur fuse box, where the wire is supposed to go, and from that fuse location to the cb. and then from the cb, to either something in the cab that will ground it, or all the way back to the battery

@ reedmayproductions I have a question on my crown Vic I just bought a cb radio for it and when I crank the car the radio makes a loud noise but if I turn the vehicle off the radios perfect I'm confused could you help
mercedes12373 6 months ago
@mercedes12373 I'd be glad to help. What your hearing is alternator hum. When your engine gets reved, that motor moves faster which makes the noise more prominent. You can buy a special noise supressor that goes inbetween your power source, and power input for your radio which will help reduce this noise. You'll just need to look around to find the correct one. There's all sorts of sizes and choices to go from, and they're not crazy expensive. I have the same problem in my car. I just didnt fix

@mercedes12373 it. Some people say if you connect your radio strait to your battery, it will get rid of the problem. I tried that, and got the same results. I'm assuming I did because the alternator is also connected to the battery (main purpose) and it gives the battery it's charge while the car is running. Well, since it's sending power to that battery, and my radio is connected to that battery, it's still going to get the noise regardless. Does that makes any sense? Hope this helps!

thank you have confirmed my theroy there.. i have a question for you though.. my friend has a big cb radio with a red wire and an orange wire and a ground wire what is the orange wire for?
jvanderman 6 months ago
@jvanderman There are a few things the orange wire could be for. The best thing to do would probably be to google that model and make and see if there is a manual that can tell you exactly what the orange wire will do. But if I were to guess, I've seen sometimes on radios that the orange wire can be used to attach a noise reducer, so if you were getting alternator noise, you could attach that reducer and it would bring down the amount of engine noise getting through to your radio. Thank You!
