@ThePerkelator Basically, you are saying "Because people are corruptible, we need a government run by people who are corruptible." That's circular logic, a fallacy greater than any hyperbole. How is political self-interest more noble than economic self-interest? Where will you find angels to organize society for us and how do you know they're angels? At least in a free society (which we are not) criminals can't buy subsidies and legalize murder. The answer is property rights.

@ThePerkelator You fail to look at the cost of oversight. More than ever, government prevents competition with red tape more often than it checks recklessness by big business. In fact, recklessness is encouraged under the current system. When was the last time you tried to start a business or get one of the many permits necessary to do so? The task requires a staff all its own to be done in any reasonable period of time, resources only available to corporations. Effect>Intention

@ninjaseatvegies Simple. Rand Paul is propagating a myth for political purposes. This is why he's more like Mitt and Newt than his father, Ron. The President simply doesn't believe that "government is the answer to all our economic and social ills." That's what's known as hyperbole, and an insult to our intelligence. Not only does he say he doesn't explicitly in the SOTU, but his actions also show that he favors govt oversight of business not government instead of business.
