so i come home to see the case in a ridiculous angle & the fan blasting away like it's a hot summer

dont even have to pull it out to slow it down, generally the cpu fan's highspeed is ~3000rpm, & low is ~1900rpm

anything over 2200 is an annoying hum

the lesson: dont cram cases in desks

  • what is the program on a display that shows temperature, voltage, fans' RPM and frequencies? I have several similar programs on my PC. But this one looks more informative.

  • that computer uses motherboardmonitor, but it's not updated for newer hardware

    another common one is speedfan

    there's also hwmonitor from cpuid

one thing to note, certain (cheaper) motherboards have less sensors for temps/rpms/volts
