One of 12 tracks from the superb 1959/1960 MGM recording "Andre Previn, David Rose - Like Blue".
The quality of the sound is so crisp and clear that it is hard to believe that the LP is 50 years old.

I can only guess that whoever owned it before I bought it (8 years ago) rarely played it and that MGM's manufacturing process was excellent.

Not only is the sound reproduction of a high quality - so also is the music as arranged and presented by Andre Previn on the piano and David Rose and his orchestra.

  • Absolutely beautiful, thankyou for uploading.

Has this album found it's way onto cd yet?

  • @SuperTabitha22

I found a CD on Ebay......but whether it is a release by a recording company I don't know.

It may be someone producing CDs from the original vinyl LPs.

  • ITS VERY PLEASANT BUT TOO MUCH IMPROVISING W/PIANO

  • @fgonzalez6

Each to his own opinion, of course, but for me that's part of the magic that was Mr. Previn's artistry.

  • A WOW!!! and mighty appreciation for this. Thank you!

  • "Serenade in Blue" originally appeared in the 1942 movie Orchestra Wives by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. Glenn Miller also released the song as an RCA Victor 78 single which peaked at #2 on the Billboard pop singles chart. Mack Gordon wrote the lyrics while the music was by Harry Warren, who also wrote the music for "Jeepers Creepers", "I Only Have Eyes For You", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", and "At Last", which was also in the movie Orchestra Wives. Ray Eberle sang it on record.

  • I hope this kind of music never dies. I remember my parents listening to it as a kid, but I didn't appreciate it until I was in my late thirties, and my parents were gone. Now I can't get enough of it. This song always stuck out in my head!

  • This vinyl MGM LP is anthological, A. Previn and the arrangements of David Rose and his strings orchestra more melodical as ever.Thank´s herun for your present for all David Rose fans. I¨m 26 years old but I love his talent. He was the best.
