Combing out my Locs

After one year and four months of locking my hair, I decided they weren't for me so I combed them all out...Enjoy!!!

SMH, I find that I am the type of person for dreads because I was and am tired of the straightening and the maintenance. I will not be surprised when you come back and say that you decided to go back to locs. I find that we become impatient with our hair and we want to see changes that just aren't ready yet. @Brownsug66 Actually, i feel that relaxed and locs are more difficult to maintain than relaxed hair. With natural hair, i constantly had to twist it at night to keep it looking decent and with locs after getting them done, a week later they wouldn't look right to me,but with relaxed hair, i can put it in a ponytail, a bun, etc. so trust me, i won't be going back to natural hair

Your hair looks great. What did you use to comb out your locks and how long did it take?

@PhatChocolate30 Thanks. I used two different kinds of conditioner(i really dont remember the name)but i don't think it matters what kind of conditioner to use. I soaked my hair in boiling hot water to soften the loc, then i saturated the loc with conditioner, and then i took a fork and carefully worked my way from the bottom of the loc until the root. It took about a week because i had a lot of help.

I had dreads too and I combed them out but I cudnt last 3 months w/out them Im lettin my hair lock again I really dont like to even look in the mirror anymore, strange thing is thats how I felt when my hair 1st locked, but I guess they grew on me, why did u take urs out? They were SO beautiful

This saddens my heart to see so many sistas getting on one another for the decisions they make on how to care for their hair. Sis you and your hair are beautiful. I am a natural hair care professional, and I work with women who have processed hair also (although I won't do the actual chemical process). It's cool to educate on how to manage your natural hair, but respect a womans ultimate decision on how she decides to wear her hair. Some of these ladies need to grow up!!!

Greeting sis... I have locs and just celebrated my 1 year loc anniversary. Let me tell u... I would not trade this journey for any other style. HOWEVER, I absolutely respect your decision to take your locs out (not that you needed my approval- SMILE) but too often we put other sistahs down for there hair choice. Keep posting and all the best to you on your new journey.
