Medical journalist Michael Mosley introduces the fundamental questions and the great forces of history that have shaped the story of science. What is out there? What is the world made of? What is the secret of life?
@orgminyak I'm about to do some serious speculation that can't now or maybe ever be proved. I think you are right on. I think that our reality is like an infinitely layered onion inside which we live in one layer. Because of our position we will never see how many layers are on the outside (the very large) nor the inside (the quantum level). Indeed even if we had the technology, and if it IS infinite it would take an eternity to find out so we cannot know. I think it is infinite both ways.Thanx!
Even our sun isn't the center of anything. It too is orbiting something. It orbits the center of our galaxy about every 250 million years. Even our galaxy is no center of anything.
So if we were to calculate the speed of the earth we would need to know:
@linkleisure I found out recently what HeLa cells were and who they came from. The way that this relates to your comment is that one of their uses was to send them into space to see if it was safe for humans.
i love the little tidbits, like Galileo nicked the idea for his telescope, and newton made up the apple story, did you know they sent some of the seeds from that tree to the ISS, ha ha
is 'A certain Isaac Newton' the same person as 'Isaac Newton'?

So if we were to calculate the speed of the earth we would need to know:
1. The speed of the galaxy
2. The speed of the sun, then finally
3. The speed of the earth
