Metallica was formed in 1981 by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. They hired a bassist named Ron McGovney and after failure with their original guitarist, hired Dave Mustaine. Dave was a drug and alcohol maniac and after some time (And negative interactions) he was removed from the band. He was also responsible for McGovney leaving the band, to be replaced with Cliff Burton (He should be thanked!).
After Mustaines removal, he "swore revenge" on Metallica and formed a band of his own, Megadeth. When he was in Metallica, they performed one of his songs; The Mechanics. Metallica later changed this to The Four Horseman (Slowing the tempo and changing the lyrics, also removing a rather effective starting riff) and Mustaine fought back by releasing the original (shortened to Mechanix) on Killing Is My Business, Megadeths first album.
Since then both bands have fought fiercely with Metallica constantly holding the spotlight... but was Megadeth really as good as some say, even better than Metallica? That is for you to decide, over the 3 releases of this video (The Early Days, The Middle Ages and The Downfall) you will listen to their changes over the years and whether they have still got it - like they did in 1983.
