Operational firefighters in the UK normally work a four on four off system, 2 days followed by 2 nights then 4 off.
A typical Strathclyde Fire & Rescue work pattern would be, lets say we start on a Tuesday dayshift 08:00 until 18:00 for 2 days followed by 2x nightshifts from 18:00 until 08:00 then off for the next four days and start back on dayshift at 08:00 on Wednesday, you always start back a day later every week.
It averages out at 48 hours a week.

@biggraham I'm a firefighter in the U.S. what is your work schedule?
-
thats a magirus TL. very nice!!!!

That was a surprise when I opened this one, that is where I am based now, yes indeed it is Yorkhill or in old money, The West Marine.
-
This would be great with sound.
Look at that old gear, how did they do it?
-
It is indeed what is now Yorkhill. I recognise the chap sitting on the right as you look at it but for the life of me can't think of his name. That was in the days of the 'smoke eaters' straight in without BA. Amazing that so many surviced the almost daily routine.
Actually the average is 42 hours, given meal breaks etc...
