It was 1986 and a hot wind blew across the desert outside the Sky Ranch studio, where John Arduser recorded this tale of Evil on Earth and the mad race to escape total annihilation. V.C. Graves sang it, played the S.G. Standard through the Echoplex and into a Marshall stack, while John Wicker played the 'drums' (actually huge metal plates). The video was edited afterhours in a KCRL TV 4 booth, where all these guys worked. Special thanks to the makers of the 50's film "Split Second", with its ghost town and atom bomb, and don't forget "Basket Case". a film that stands alone.
"What's that?"
"That's the warning signal, the bomb will go off in 5
minutes!"
"You're crazy. The bomb's going off at 6!"
"They must've changed their minds, I told you they could!"
Adorable! New Wave Spookabilly! And you can't go wrong with scenes from Basket Case. Now I wanna find that '50's flick!

One of the worst things about being a monster blob guy that lives in a picnic basket is that your arms are too short to play heavy rock guitar - that would make ANYONE mad enough to bite people!

Yes, long before there was a "YouTube," and really before the internet was around, my old pal VC Graves made this video of his own song, which itself is a nice testament to pre-digital recording technology. I think the "snare drum" is an oven door slamming shut.
Kudos for the fine work (both the song and the video), and thanks for dusting it off...some 23 years after the fact, and sharing it with the world.
Look for VC Graves co-starring in my video of "There's Something In The Graveyard"
