Olympic Airways 747-200s and A340 at Athens Hellenikon Airport.mp4

I received a few request for some Olympic action from the past..so I had to relent and throw this together. Many people miss that old rundown airport, and I'm one of them..'new' is not always necessarily better. I'm very glad I got the chance to fly into this great historic airfield that no longer exist!

Four of the five total Olympic Airways 747's are seen here. One original ship SX-OAB and three that were ex-Singapore Airlines ships. SX-OAC, SX-OAD and SX-OAE. Even the Airbus A340s with the great Olympic rings are no more.

Tell me how did you get SX-DFB arriving at JFK, was it at a different time? Thats really the only logical answer in my mind...

@Scott757300 ..haha, yes of course. There's no way I could beat that A340 back to New York and got into position to shoot it. - Customs and immigration would have made sure of that.

@flashbiddy thansk, and very true, a giant is no more. I'm only pissed because Olympic never sent the A340 on any of my visits to Heathrow, it always seem to come after I've gone on to another city. But I'm happy with my Olympic collection and happy to share it!

This is one of the best LGAT videos I've ever seen.I was lucky enough to live close to this magnificent airport and I have great spotting memories of it.

And one last thing, duration of the video: 7:42! just like the SX-OAB,SX-OAC, SX-OAD and SX-OAE!

By the noize during take off you can realize how old the 747's engines were...!Still they were really beautiful and special!!
