An English folk song featured on Simon and Garfunkel's 1960's album entitled "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme." Played on my 1930's Hohner Regina, 4 reeds in the treble and 5 reeds in the bass.

Are you goin' to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one that lives there.
For she once was a true love of mine.

  • Such a wonderful image. I am there with you, probably listening to your music as I tend the cooking pot.

  • Wow, thanks, Mike! The minor notes and chords seem to sound somewhat enhanced on this 1930's instrument. I feel like a Gypsy in a wooded forest when I sit down to play a tune like this, encircled by a caravan of dancers, playwrights, musicians, story-tellers, acrobats and artists. A dream sequence where music paints a picture and transforms the very nature of time.

  • Hello Glenn,

This is so good to listen to, the wonderful tone of the accordion is just perfect for this melody. In fact, I have been thinking about the tone and I doubt that the tune would sound anywhere near as atmospheric if played on a "modern" accordion.

Lovely choice of song and accordion.

  • Dear Joan, thank you for your kind words and musical insights! Keep playing that piano and soaring to the stratosphere with your celestial voice!

    Regards,

    Glenn
