Only some parts of it. They guys were really on fire. Some parts of the explosions were real, some were fake. Same thing with the bottom fire and smoke. Some was real, some was fake. The fake parts were made with Adobe After Effects and some stock footage, by the way.

oh snap! thats freakin' awesome...i'm going to be doing the same thing with my movie but were using safe explosives. good luck on your film.

Thank you! By the way, the explosives we used were safe as well. We used a so called 'Theatre Flash' (a flash/smoke effect for the stage) with Lycopodium on top (a natural powder from a plant, combustible only as dispersed dust and gives a nice 'oily' fireball).

Hey fletch I was wondering how did you do that bullet zoom? is it a solid with a mask effect or what?
drno62 4 years ago
It's a simple in-camera zoom (on location, as fast as my camera could). Then I sped up the footage, added a "zoom blur" and finally added and animated (with motion blur, of course) a still of a bullet in After Effects. Oh, and I superimposed a digital explosion with some light effects on the bottle.
