http://www.deansafe.com/vli-41214-s-qv.html Hundreds of thousands of Simplex Locks have been installed onto Wall Safes, pistol boxes, Gun Safes, & lock boxes of all kinds. Changing the Combo is an important part of your security...and most people don't know how!
Today were going to show you how to set your combination. What you do is start with your door locked shut, you're going to turn your knob to the left counter clockwise. That clears out whatever combination or whatever buttons have been pushed. You enter the existing combination, either the factory setting it came to you on, or whatever you have it set to now. After you enter that code, you turn your knob to the right clockwise and that opens it. Once you have it open, you're going to turn the knob back left counter clockwise to lock it so now it is locked with the door open. At this point you're going to enter the existing combination so again whatever you just pushed to open it you push those buttons but don't turn the knob. Now we're going to go on the inside and at the bottom of the lock we have a little tab here. What we're going to do here is push this little tab up and push this button into the lock. You just kind of hear it click into place. Then we are going to go back the outside of the door. We're going to take our knob and turn it left or counter clockwise. Now we've just cleared out the existing combination. Now we are ready to set our new code.
For example if we want our code to be 1-2-3-4-5. Just go right down the line and push the buttons as we want them. Now very critical, we take our knob and we turn it to the right or clockwise. Once we've done that we've set our code. Now we turn it back to the left counter clockwise and our new code should be set. So we are just going to double check it. So we push in our code, 1-2-3-4-5 and to unlock remember we are turning clockwise to the right and we're all unlocked. Lets check it again and right we're set. Now for the test we are going to shut the door and lock it. Again check it again, and it works. Now one thing I do recommend when you set a new code, go back and do it several times the first day you set it. Tomorrow go back and do it a couple more times and for the first week you have the safe and that code do that code several times so that it becomes ingrained so that if you have to enter that safe in a hurry, you don't have to stop and think about what's my code, you have it memorized and it's second nature to you.
Thanks to Mary
Mary has been teaching this for years and was happy to share it with me for you to see
Do you really think that this safe is secure? Or stable?

@cherrystone Good question. Wall safes (this one included) are only as strong as the wall and are considered as a group lite duty. However that said, they are a great place to hide, the prescription drugs from the maid and a pistol from the kids.
Yet most burglars never look for wall safes because most homes don't have them and they are hard to find.
Bottom line, Very handy, easy to use. But if a burglary finds it, he'll probably get your stuff.
