Agreed re the friendly bit. It would appear discussions on youtube get really heated really quickly. Can't understand why and there is no need for it. When you get to my age you understand a lot of things aren't that important. Cheers.

Winning all four in one year is the only Grand Slam. Winning the four majors in consecutive tournaments but not in the same year is known as a 'Non-Calendar Year Grand Slam', winning all four majors at any point during a career is known as a 'Career Grand Slam'. They are 'Qualified Grand Slams'. They are not Grand Slams! Don't know how simple it can get. Try the topendsports - com site for reference. It lists the 5 people to have achieved a Grand Slam. 3 men and two women.

Quote - The four Major tennis tournaments or Grand Slam tennis tournaments ... are the world's most important annual tennis tournaments... they have been considered the most important for decades.... the Majors are the Australian ... and French... Open, Wimbledon and US Open...The tennis "Grand Slam" is a cumulative achievement, winning all four major championships in a single year in one of the five disciplines: men's and women's singles; men's, women's, and mixed doubles....

when i said 4 grand slams i ment france australia us and wimbledon not the different kinds. and also a Grandslam is not winning all four in one year look it up, in recent years it has come to be known as the calendar year!.

Grand slam = the championships or "grandslam tennis tournaments"

Career Grand slam = winning all four in your career

Calendar Grand slam or "the Calender year" = having all four Grand slams at once.

Sorry my friend but you need to check the history of tennis. A 'Grand Slam' is all 4 in one year. Do some research, it isn't hard to find. Also note I did say, 'Of more recent times, it has come to mean winning them in sequence.'

And maybe you need to learn how to count too.

    1 - Men's singles

    2 - Women's singles

    3 - Mixed doubles

    4 - Men's doubles

    5 - Women's doubles.

    That's five to my count.
