Ended up with this design after tinkering for a bit to create a decent, automatic trap that would kill any mob type (most traps have difficulty with spiders!) that could also work unattended and allow remote collection of drops.

Using a not-very-simple system of canals to gather and transport dropped items into a receiving area, which had a wood pressure plate for a visual indicator.

  • can u make a video on how to do the wiring for the ready light thing? great video btw

  • @CANADAWOOOOOOOOO It's a simple wood pressure plate connected to the redstone torch with a second redstone torch in between to invert the signal. Plenty of redstone tutorials out there.

  • ive got a problem with this trap. As soon as the items hit the cacti they disapear for me.

  • @Siage Don't really have an explanation for that. Do you actually witness the items drop and the just never come out the other side? Keep in mind that it may not work properly in multiplayer (even though the video is from an SMP server)

  • great but make everything one deeper i got more drops because of it

i witnessed if u didnt have it 1 block deeper, mob could escape

  • i subed

  • nice trap works great ty

  • I like the little "Ding!' next to the redstone torch when it lit up

  • @Siage Cacti are kinda like lava, if i an item lands on the cacti instead of brushing against it, it will destroy it, sorta like lava. I had a spider trap that used cacti and if the string would land on top of the cacti or just right against it, it would destroy it. Drowning traps are generally the only traps that dont destroy your loot.
