Actually, with that name he should be either German or French., or both Richter is a German name that means "Judge", while Belmont is a French surname that means "fair mountain". All the Belmonts have French origin, after all, Leon was a Crusader, that makes him French, English or German. It would be silly to have a Japanese crusader, and even sillier in that age.

@GeneralErlend No, take for example Simon Belmont, in japanese is Simon Belmondo (シモン・ベルモンド Shimon Berumondo), it's the original family name, i don't know why but when it was imported, it was changed for unknown reason.

@Bigsnake210 I thought "Belmondo" was just the Japanese way of pronouncing it? At least I don't know any CV game that states its the original name.

@MastaGambit Eh Belmont's face has sharp features, Beib's face is too rotund for there to be much of a resemblance. Hair is wavier too.
