Another referee error at the worldcup has cost Australia dearly. Harry Kewell was sent off in absolutely rubbish circumstances and lead to the penalty that gave Ghana an undeserved draw.

Handling the ball involves a DELIBERATE act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. FAIL FAIL FAIL. The ball more hits his pectorial muscle then deviates to the shoulder region, this is not a handball and it is certainly not deliberate, he's trying to pull his arm close to his body and the shot is fired from a cpl metres away, it's a disgrace of a decision, definately not a deliberate handball and another clear referee blunder.

The referee shall take the following into consideration:
• The movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards
the hand) Did the ball move towards Harry Kewell? YES watch the Jabulani swerve and change direction
• The distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected
ball) The shot was fired from very close distance, no time to react
• Position of the hand DOES NOT NECESSARILY mean that there is an
infringement i.e the hand does not have to be right next to the body, anyone who plays football knows you use your arm for balance or chesting down balls, which is what kewell was trying to do here. Referee clearly is an idiot who's never played the sport and who clearly should not be officiating games within the world cup.

Australia's dutch coach Pim Verbeek questioned the send-off, saying it was impossible for Kewell to get out of the ball's way. "It was a mistake," Verbeek said of the penalty and red card decision."What is he supposed to do, cut his arm off?"

Referee errors mount up in this world cup, here are just a sample of them, there are multiple linesman calls as well & more referee errors
Tim Cahill red card versus Germany
Kaka red card versus Ivory Coast (clear acting by ivory coast player)
Harry Kewell red card versus Ghana
Luis Fabiano quadrible handball goal
De Jong (tackle on Bendtner) versus Denmark ( savage two footed lunge studs up, bendtner injured, should = red card)
Lee Addy versus Australia (viscous studs up challenge from behind should have equaled red card)
Valon Behrami red card versus Chile, again not a red card (acting done by vidal)
Gary Medel yellow card given versus Switzerland, blatant acting by Steve von Bergen
more to come

Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld snarled post-match: "I think FIFA should make sure only the best referees officiate at the World Cup. It is very disappointing.

  • Being Australian i can honestly say i cried when i witnessed this moment

  • Australia scored 3 cracking goals.

Ghana didn't score a single goal.

Australia dominated possesion in 2 of the 3 group stage games.

Ghana had an average of 40% possesion for all 3 games whilst having the lower possesion of the two playing teams for all 3 group stage games.

Australia had to play with 10 men for half a game, and almost for a full game the following game ( 10 vs Germanys 11) (10 vs ghanas 11) and (11 vs serbias 11)

Ghana had to play (11 vs australias 10) and (11 vs serbias 10)

  • I would klick on the play button xd

  • Thumbs up if you muted this absolutely horrible shitheap music while watching this vid

  • Can you adjust the audio levels. The music is a bit too low...

  • It probably was a penalty but not a red card. That's ridiculous. It's typical of fifa though because they want europe and south america to be there at the end so they ruin the chances of teams from asia/australia and north america etc.

  • Let's face it people, FIFA the cunts have it in for Australia for some reason. Fucking Cunts. They fucked us against Italy, Germany, Ghana and Serbia.

  • @GrEEkIcEmaN063 It was worse when Lucas Neil was Penalised against Italy. That broke my heart.

  • I really hate football Refs they don't have any common sense they are to quick to judge. This was pure accidental deserves a yellow at worst. Luis Suarez Handball is what you call a deliberate Handball not this one.

  • No what we nee is for referees to be allowed to look at a video feed on questionable situations like in Football. "I am a soccer 'football' Referee" i agree with you but there is only so much the referee can see we do our best to be in the proper positions to see such situations as this. this referee's error sounds like he was in the incorrect position to see the full play.

  • Absolutly correct 100%. Not a red card.

  • Interesting. But in the end, no penalty. Unlucky, we need VIDEO REFS!
