Dude you only have one or two really good "Brandon" friends at a time in your life. You have set the bar too high - everyone can't be fucked - don;t be lazy - don;t be "shy" get your ass involved and stop crying because you think you are entitled to have a pile of close friends. You have the power to change this in yourself and guess what the people at the next school will be just the same - do you think you might be a little depressed? You are looking at stuff less than half full.

I think you're worrying too much about the consequences of your actions and not thinking enough about the actions themselves and how they could be beneficial, just in a different way than you necessarily think is best. You have the right idea in that you only get one chance to go through college, but it almost sounds like you're trying to put yourself in the future and see your whole college experience based on one semester. There is still tons of time for stuff to change, as long as you let it.

Brian, I picked up on a few things while watching you. The first thing is when you mentioned High School. We all want time to go be as fast as possible but once we get out of High School, time will go faster than you can ever imagine. Second thing was about feeling cheated at college. Don't ever feel like you have been cheated. Getting a further education is a good thing. You may feel that you are not challenged enough, but, look to the positive. Enjoy being young while you can.

Stick with the friends you have and things will get better. Make friends with your roommate--if you think you're both too shy but want to be friends with him then you should just ask him to hang out.

Also, join a club of some sort or get a job on campus--it's a great way to meet friends. Also, consider getting a job as an RA or in residential life. It's a great way to meet people because you will make friends with the other RAs in your building and your residents.

You have so much on your mind. I fucking love this video though because it does help you figure out what's what. You have some legitimate feelings. At first it seems kind of lame talking about residences and shit but at the heart of it I think it's normal to be unhappy when you don't have some really great friends. Not that you probably don't think your friends there aren't great, but there not like those friends who are almost another part of you. I like hearing your thought process a lot.

.......if you want to be closer to your best friend, Uchicago is not a easy school to get into but chicago has a lot of other great schools. there's DePaul, U.I.C., Columbia college, Loyola. just do what u think is right

it just sounds like you miss brandon a lot. i would suggest start applying to other schools your thinking about attending and when your freshmen year ends decide wether u think you'll be better transferring to another school or staying at your current school. i was going to R.I.T. for my first semester last year and i hated it. so i finished my first semester and didn't go back. i transferred to columbia college in chicago and so far my first semester is going fantastic i love it here..........
