The 10th World Wushu Championship is an event of International caliber that unites more than 1500 athletes, coaches and participants worldwide; all whom compete for the prestigious honour of becoming World Champions.

Wushu is a form of martial arts and is an international amateur sport that will offer Ontario the opportunity to welcome visitors, internationally showcase the Province and its communities, and will support the Provinces dedication to sports, recreation and physical activity culture.

The World Wushu Championships were established in 1991 from a century old practice to provide a world-level event for wushu athletes to demonstrate
their abilities in this time honored sport. The excitement for wushu has escalated with its introduction at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The World Championships is the most prestigious individual title that a wushu athlete can obtain outside of Olympic Competition.

In turn, this will undoubtedly raise the bar for the
10th World Wushu Championships scheduled to be held on
Oct 24-29, 2009 at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
