Anyway, here's my real comment.
Who cares who You're So Vain is about? I wrote a song about having this person who tried to be my friend but I turned away who died, and the song is about regret. Here's the catch: It wasn't about anyone I actually knew.
Maybe it isn't about anyone... :\

Carly has never revealed the suspect . She hints to a gardner on her latest LP. "Never been gone". Very good cd, especially 'Boys in the trees".I wished mainstream radio would find their minds again and play sound talent again.I miss rock N roll and the human expression to express. Carly Simon resented David Geffen who was head of Elektra records back in the day, because she felt that Geffen put more effort into promoting her rival Joni Mitchell than her.....it's not about failed love, it's about business, money & fame!!!

its about James Taylor because there was a lot of controversy between them after they broke up. He wrote a song about her too, but i forgot which one

It could be about anyone. If you listen to the other interview you will see that it is just clever lyrics. That is what is so great about that song. She is really loving that she wrote that song! Her voice is wonderful and her attitude fantastic.

I could give a rat's ass what the song is about; the fact that Carly has always been the greatest is what counts...
Does it matter who really shot JFK or is the Patterson's Bigfoot footage's real or is it "memorex"...I have bills to pay and that's what's counts!!!
