Pat Benatar - Here's My Heart (Complete Film Version) (1984)

This is the complete film version of the song 'Here's My Heart' by Pat Benatar, which was recorded for the soundtrack of the 1984 remake of Fritz Lang's 1927 film Metropolis.

Although a soundtrack to the movie was released, this song was re-recorded for that purpose. I personally don't care for the album version, as the vocal and arrangement aren't anywhere near as powerful as the film version.

The song was featured at three points throughout the film. I have taken each part of the song and combined them into one track, fading in and out of each part. This is the most complete version of the song I have seen on YouTube so far, apart from videos that feature actual footage ripped from VHS releases. Hope you enjoy!

Giorgio Moroder wrote and produced the entire score for Metropolis. He also used rare still images to make up lost/damaged footage, and placed coloured tints over the original sepia roll of film. The reaction from fans proved to be a love/hate response, though there is no denying that the soundtrack itself is a fantastic work of 80s synth, featuring songs by Bonnie Tyler, Adam Ant and Freddie Mercury.

  • I wish she'd sing this live; and not the soundtrack version either!!!

  • @ivegottaheadache No, the soundtrack version isn't that great.

  • this is my favourite version of metropolis

  • @thuggie1 Mine too!

  • Thanks for uploading this. Shame it was never released on CD as I think it's one of Pat's best recordings.

  • @SunshineSlayer You're welcome! Yes, it is a shame.

  • @freezetomorrow I can understand why it's that way for the soundtrack, the entire soundtrack is rather upbeat, this is kind of slow (I'm not defending it; I love this version much more than the soundtrack version). Still, great song.

  • Nice job.. yeah this version is much more magical and timeless than the album version.

  • sounds like your VHS tape has been played a few times...

  • @SunshineSlayer True, it does have a different version of the song on it. I felt the same way when I heard the CD version of Here's My Heart. It would be nice to have both versions. Both have their merits but I do love the movie version better.

  • @AiSidne The version that is on the CD soundtrack is completely different from this (and not as good).

  • @SunshineSlayer Amazon.com look for Giorgio Moroder's Metropolis Soundtrack. It's $11.48 and in stock.

  • Bonsoir, Encore merci freezetomorrow, pour nous offrir ce grand moment d'émotion.

  • @AnoziraNoscut It's out on Blu-Ray, DVD and Netflix Instant Queue. You do know that, right? If not, now is your chance to check it out. I just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago, and my goodness, it's worlds apart from the original, but it's still an artifact I'm glad I saw.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It's been almost twenty years since I've heard this version of "Here's My Heart"--SOOO superior to the soundtrack version. Pat could bring the house down by singing the song this way as a concert finale. I only wish she would!

  • BEAUTIFUL VOICE
