Malawi's economy has grown literally from 0 to the current 7.9% as a result of some sound macroeconomic policies and government's agricultural subsidy programme. This programme has received much criticism from the international donor community, a relationship which was key in getting the country's economy off the ground when Bingu wa Mutharika came into power as President in 2004. Sue Beukes spoke to the president and asked him how he managed to balance the relationship between the much need donor support and implementing his agricultural subsidy programme.

  • I love my president. He is dealing with the fundamentals of micro-economics. I love you mr. president!

  • Thief. He is busy stealing govts money to pay his wife for charity work. Where on earth have you seen this. He is corrupt and wants to rule behind his brother. He does not want to end up in custody for being a big thief.

  • Politicans are liers !! They talk cheap crass and only slobs will listen to them. This guy is waxing rich at the back of poor Malawians.

  • this video has changed my views about BINGU ,what a good man, news is always better coming from the horses mouth,Haters educate yourselves and open your eyes,Babylonians will only rob you and then you wonder why life is so hard....Limbe boy...

  • Wow this President is great. he seems to know what he is talking about.

God bless you Mr. Prez. I wish we had leaders like you all over Africa.Great economist.

  • he should have spent the money for his presidential plane for aids prevention or the fight against analphabetism or such. but, as usual, the african leaders know best what is good for their country.

  • I remember during Dr Bandas time our currency was strong until multi party system came along through outside influencies.Leaders that do good especially in the African continent should be left to carry on their legacy and pass it on to the right candidate when the wish to retire. So Dr Wamutharika we wish you another 50 years rule until a right placement is found for you. Outsiders should not dictate our culture and how we should run things.. God bless you Sir.....keep the good work going....

  • Bingu wa Mutharika: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved you and your house (Acts 16:31 Your Bible)

  • Bingu wa Mutharika seems to show very good grip and understanding.

  • Interesting interview...
