that's probably the main reason why dave decided to go back to the explorer, this interveiw also came out around the BUG 4 tour. as a result him getting back in touch with metallica probably made him more comfortable to go back and say i wana fucking play my old badass explorer since im cool with metallica now. dave probablyalways had the ich to play an explorer but didnt want to since james played it.

Same, i myself own a les paul and has tried my friend's explorer which happened to be angel of death 2 (the lower line dean zeros) and its was quite uncomfy... but still i'd like it there because i've had so many times hit the fucking les paul switch while going crazy and the sound turns off... (i turn volume on rhythm 0 to make it a killswitch) yeah i guess ill get the dean zero :)

The dark green one is very expensive, the one that is pure black is still very expensive but cheaper. But Kirk's guitar doesn't have a sustainiac. You could always install it yourself, though. So, I think you should buy Dave's.

There's one thing I don't like with them is the place where the pickup switch is. I've used a Les Paul for a long time so I'm used to the switch on the top
