  • I recently discovered Herbie Nichols' music, and every time I hear it I wonder "how would this great music sound if played with horns?" Now I know, and it sounds great! I'd dare to say it might sound even better than the trio versions!

Just got Kristall's Herbie Nichols Tribute CD through ITunes after watching this video! Congrats, and thanks for keeping this unfairly forgotten music alive!

  • @giopagoda Thanks for the support. Molte grazie!

  • Really nice version. Lovely playing. Chords of Wildflower ->Sixteen by Monk?

  • @coreymwamba

Actually, it's the same as "Jada" or "Doxy"

  • Hey, I like this. Good to hear Herbie's music played decently.

  • Thank you. I'm glad to hear some people still dig Herbie!

  • @subtoner "Sixteen" is also based on "Jada". :)

  • @subtoner then they both have the same root, as Sixteen is also based on "Jada" :)

  • @subtoner "Sixteen" is based on Doxy too. :)

  • Great players.

This is a very good DVD I'd reccomend to every Herbie Nichols' music lover.

  • I've recently discovered Herbie's world, and it's a delight to see people still performing his music in a tasteful way. Herbie is an artist whose music needs a sensitive interpreter to get the nuances of the mood he carved with his left hand on the piano.
