When i first installed my cpu, that 'crack' sound occured. I thought I had destroyed my cpu xD

@shthouserat It depends on the motherboard. It may already have the BIOS installed as well, or may even have an option to flash the BIOS without a CPU installed (You'll want to check the manual for that one).
If you do require a compatible CPU first, buy a cheap AM3 CPU like a Sempron just for the flash or ask the store to perform the update for you.
I hope this helps.

Ok tyvm

@sheek1982 You can, but if you choose to get a quad or hexacore you will have to stick to the Phenom II models, you will not be able to upgrade beyond the Phenom II models into Bulldozer territory.

i have a AMD AM3 938 socket, would i be able to upgrade to a quad or hexcore cpu? are they even compatible?

@MrRaksasok Sorry man but it that particular Motherboard does not support any CPU better than a Athlon 64 X2 6000+.
If you want something better then that you'll need to buy a new motherboard. :(
Can I jump from AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 - 3.00 Ghz to AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, they both are AM3. tyvm

@Sazkuki It depends on the motherboard, but in general it should be possible with many AM3 boards.
If you can list the brand and model of the motherboard I'll be happy to tell you if you can or not. :)

My motherboard is NF520T-C35

@Sazkuki You can :) Up to the 1055T which happens to be the highest-end CPU supported by your motherboard.
Please make sure you update your BIOS before installing a new CPU.

Do you think I can overclock with 1055t on that old motherboard?

@Sazkuki I honestly wouldn't know :( sorry. It "may" support overclocking but I don't know how well it'll handle it. I would just stick to stock clocks since it doesn't support the highest-end 6-core Phenom.
Probably because it can't power them sufficiently, overclocking might push your board over the edge.
