Don't like multiple specimens on a slide carryover can give false positives on Blood cultures/Cerebro spinal/Synovial fluids.

This is a great one! Short and to the point. Will be showing this in my micro class that I teach.
Thanks for making it such a good one

I guess if you're used to putting the specimen in the same spot all the time you wouldn't have a problem but if you're starting out wouldn't it be good to mark the slide around the area so you know where to apply the stains and everything else?

There are grease pens that can be used to make a circular area to hold the sample. Sharpies, etc., are not a good idea since the ink will dissolve and can interfere with some stains.
Our SOPs print with a 1" x 3" rectangle with 1-3 circular spots as a guide. The student positions the slide within the rectangle and places specimens in the spots according to the step-by-step instructions.
