Tokyo 1963. Trouble In Mind by The Cannonball Adderley Sextet.
This number was a feature for Yusef Lateef on oboe; with additional solos by Joe Zawinul - piano; and a rare chance to see bassist Sam Jones stretching out. Louis Hayes is on drums. ..... And although not playing on this clip, the sextet also obviously includes Cannonball Adderley on alto sax with brother Nat Adderley on cornet.

  • SBass, some of the greats took umbrage to the term 'jazz', apparently some perceived connotation there...hard to understand, but odd things happen

  • Sure looks like Joe to me. Regardless, this is precious!

  • HARD!

  • i know ALL white folks look alike but thats joe zawinul and not victor feldman- u wish?! thank u 4 the fantastic upload!!!!

    rashid brixton

  • best bass solo i've ever heard

  • YEAH!

  • yusef is a multi-virtuoso master--God bless him and sonny rollins also for their longevity

  • @twitch968 It's Zawinul without any doubt. For one thing Victor Feldman was not there anymore by the time Yusef Latef joined Adderleys. For another, it's just him.

  • Sam jones rules !

  • Great clip, but I think it's actually Victor Feldman on piano, not Joe Zawinul.
