Its even worse than that; the only reason contract faculty at York have to 're-apply' every year is because CUPE demands they fill out an application form which details their UNION seniority. If it weren't for CUPE, applying for contract jobs would be as simple as sending a copy of one's curriculum vitae to the chair of the relevant department.

This is crazy, the strike is still going on because TA's are force to reapply every year.
The TA spending a few minute to fill a form and reapply versus 50000 students losing a year
that is like 50000 years
