This is the first "boss fight" in the game (Revelations : Persona, "Be Your True Mind", c. 1996, Atlus USA). I decided to play it thru from the start, esp. with P3 coming out, I guess that helped to rekindle my interest in the series.

The story progresses:

After you win, and find the secret exit,

]
you wander thru yet another maze, with klaxons sounding, as you try to find Guido.

Apparently, this video is better than the 2nd Edition:

A final note for those who have actually read all of this:

When Mary says after the battle (well, if you talk to her) that she's fine, that's significant because at the beginning of the story, she was in the hospital for several months for "minor mental delusions". She then mysteriously appeared to the party acting as if she'd never been sick... but you later find out that the Mary that appears to you is from an Alternate Dimension. Unlike Chrono Cross, the Alternat e Dimension story makes a bit more sense and you don't travel back and forth at will, you have to fix stuff in the "other world" to get back to the "real world", and so on.

In a sense, the whole came is an external manifestation of various mental/emotional/feelings-related things, even as far as mythical beings as an extension of the personality. The story and character design show a lot of creativity and attention to detail, and the battles are well balanced for the most part: they reward you for putting in effort to make and improve Personas, moreso that just grinding for no apparent reason.

It's a lot more fun that stuff in Final Fantasy XII (12) where you "hunt the freaked out potato" and level-grind, for no reason. Ironically, I like P1 more than most current games, I think it's almost a classic, like Chess, but with a few major flaws which I ignore mostly but really think they should remake their older games for PC at least, if not download-able on the PS3, 360, Wii vis Virtual Console or whatever.

  • im stuck in the re-make PSP version. i'm stuck in the dungeon underground near the mall.

and it says that i cannot exit the mall.

  • @dougarr You need to do something before you can go thru the Mall, or even fight the boss there. I don't remember what offhand but I think the characters will tell you if you talk to them. It's been literally years since I played that game, but I don't think they changed the basic plot for the PSP.

  • Ayase: Your hair, your clothes. You look all geezer-like! Yukk!

Kandori: ....... (She just crossed the line) Kill them!!!

  • @Crok425 some people are sensitive about their fashion, I guess.

  • Yes, yes it does.

I'm not sure who the fuck thumbed down this comment but this is the truth.

Just read up on what was cut from the original persona just to make it "Westernized".

The main character's not even the same.

Thank God the PSP remake is staying as true to the original as possible.

  • i bought this game when it came out back in the day. I was 17 at the time. Time flies...

  • @FUCKINGRAGED Holy...they cut down that much? I wonder what the original dialogue was.

  • @Zelkiiro Me Too!

  • @Seizhin not to mention the final dungeon. LONG dungeon+Long final boss fight...geh. The dungeon path even passes by the only save point it has, as if to mock me :P

  • @FUCKINGRAGED The only thing I never liked about persona: revelation is the ultra big dungeon.... Deva Yuga takes 4-6 hours before I can find the next save point.. (Provided that I get stuck as well)

  • @Bryantzerox Damn straight, im barely 16 and i play games OLDER than me, and ENJOY them!
