Saga Charitable Trust - Nepal Orphanage OCCED

Naxal Orphanage in Kathmandu is home to over 40 orphans and abandoned children. It is bursting at the seams and desperately needs to relocate. Funds are needed to buy land on which to build a new orphanage that will allow more children to grow and develop in a safe and happy environment. The local measurement of land is called an 'anna' which is at a cost of around £2,700 each.

They have already secured a plot of ten annas and need a further six to fulfil their dream which is a total of £16,200. The more land they have the more space for the children. Once they have the land they will be able to source funding for the actual building. Saga Volunteers have been working at Naxal for the last four years and we have developed strong relationships with them.

Our policy is not simply to donate money, but to invest in sustainable projects that will empower and support local communities as well as offer increased opportunities for them to benefit from tourism.

The Saga Charitable Trust is funded by Saga Group Ltd, its customers and staff and as Saga Group covers all the UK overheads and administrative costs, every penny donated goes to help the projects we support.
