Visiting a Carthusian monastery - part 2

"Stat crux dum volvitur orbis".
I liked the Carthusian order since I was child, I visited personally many Charterhouses and Serra St. Bruno too.
St. Bruno wrote the Carthusian vocation is a mystery known only by who has experienced it, not everyone is called to such life but knowing it will help to rediscover the contemplative dimension inherent in every Christian existence
and to give more space in our daily.

The Charterhouse of the Transfiguration

is the only Carthusian monastery in North America.

It is nestled in a high mountain valley

near Mount Equinox in Southern Vermont, U.S.A.

@TheMenghi1 Mucho gusto, Fernando. El padre vasco es Juan Aresti, de Bilbao. Que los monjes son "celosos", sí lo creo, pero no sé en qué sentido tú lo entiendes: son muy minuciosos en el examen de la persona, por ejemplo, y quizás sea así para evitar que haya vocaciones frustradas (mientras más minucioso es el examen del sincero corazón del aspirante, menos dudas quedan sobre su verdadera vocación, pienso). En mi caso, he recibido un trato muy amable y cada vez que voy, me siento muy bien!

@MIKELES08 -Me llamo Fernando. Tengo 49. He estado en la de Vermont en el 92. Creo que en contarle eso al prior en aquel tiempo--un cura Vasco, sone. Incluso estuve por Cordoba en el 2002 visitando a familia. Hable con ese mismo por telefono, y todavia me nego pasar por alli. Tuve mejor trato con los de Vermont. De todos modos, no importa ya que no tengo vocacion. Pienso que los monjes son muy celosos y no prefieren tratan con los "ineptos," a veces les falta educacion!

Me llama la atención lo que me cuentas: según entiendo, "cualquier" persona puede hacer su primera experiencia en la Cartuja, esto es, los primeros quince días de vida monástica; no había sentido nunca algo parecido a tu caso. Que Dios te bendiga y te dé paciencia para saber qué es lo que quiere de ti. Un abrazo desde Córdoba, Argentina.

I can not do the cloistered way of life, but I want to be a Capuchin Franciscan of the renewal. They in a way get the best of both worlds: 5 hours of prayer a day, one for lecto divina, two for contemplation, one for a holy hour, 30 minutes for mass and about an hour for the divine office.
