They did have some failures with the head braking off and damaging the disks.. But I never personally had this happened for the years I've used Zip disks..

Good old Zip Disk. Not a bad media but I think the price of CD burners dropped as they started to catch on and that really killed them. Blank CD's were cheaper and held more space. Also many of them had drive failures didn't they?
