Where to anchor when shooting a longbow: Please note: Nocking is not the correct terminology. It should be ANCHORING :)

  • My long bow has a hand shock.Someone said that flat/long bows a notorious for that.Is it true? Now i bought a nice recurve and it is much faster and easier to shoot .it's only 60# ;ligther than the long bow but much better.

  • @ogostaboy Not all longbows have handshock. Mine have none. Basically handshock can be reduced by a design which directs the force of the limbs away from the handle (reflex deflex for example). Heavier risers also absorb more shock, etc. I also own an older, heavily reflexed longbow that has so much handshock its just about unshootable. You should try a reflex deflex longbow from a good bowyer at some point. Its really awesome to shoot

  • these videos are great! i'm starting on archery and i find these videos the best :) and ive watched a million, lol

keep up the good work! :)

  • Thanks :)

  • Would you apply the same technique to an English longbow-Must also say that you make things so much clearer than many others in the same field, many thanks

  • To a large extent yes. However, an english longbow would not have a shelf to rest the arrow on. You will thus shoot from the hand. The English also traditionally used the mediteranean grip on the bowstring (two fingers below and one above the nock). Finally they tended to anchor next to the jawline, as opposed to below the eye.

  • beautiful reflex deflex longbow! how much pounds? you dont draw it very long is that 26 or 28"?

  • So are you supposed to focus on the tip of the arrow or the target?

  • great videos, but i think the anchor point might also be the reason why you have a bit of a hunchback (no offense!) great videos!

    cheers

  • You mean ANCOR!!!!

  • @blorchdude4 Actually, an English longbow is meant to be pulled to the ear. Five minutes' research will back this up. By which I mean an original English longbow, and how they are still meant to be drawn today if using the same technique.

  • @Harudath NO NO NO THATS A JAPANESE YUMI BOW AND YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT RIGHT OR YOUR EAR IS COMING RIGHT OFF YOU DONT HOLD THOSE BOWS LIKE ANY OTHER

  • @ogostaboy THE LONGBOW CAN REDUCE HAND SHOCK BY CHANGING THE BRACE HIEGHT OF THE STRING YOU MIGHT HAVE TO SMALL OF BRACE HIEGHT THAT CAN CAUSE BAD HAND SHOCK HOPE THAT HELPED A LITTLE BIT

  • @Harudath Nice way top remove your ear. Quick and simple. :)
