They played this again on 12/24/2011 and I caught it. It played exactly like it did since the 70's even though they don't play this one as much anymore. I believe there was another similar one that went with it. The best part is, unlike the cartoon one that is much more popular (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQCEQXVc7L8), they have not "stretched" this one for HD or altered it to change the station logo. I wish they would show the other one as it was done originally also!
Good memories of a time gone by....

I'm sorry I missed seeing this one this past Christmas Eve. I e-mailed the station about it. They said that they were trying to say 'Merry Christmas' in every language spoken in the Newschannel 5 viewing area. Once they assembled it all, the commercial was two minutes long, and hence there were two separate commercials made. FWIW, the cartoon commercial debuted the same year as the 'Merry Christmas' ads. The music is"Once in Royal David's City" by Stan Kenton and his Orchestra. Thanks, yorkie9!
