Now that mountain biking has been invented, is there really any point in cyclocross?

I was thinking the same thing about the mountain bike idea at my local muddy cyclocross race until I read the rules: drop bars and skinny tires or go home (unless you want to race in the beginners class).

and maybe lower tire pressure. Mtb skills help immensely.

@MultiNotyourbusiness Never seen anyone win on a mtb but I know this uy who finishes about halfway and he rides one (well he rode the last race of this season on a proper cx bike). I would say its really only the weight that makes the cross bike better ;)
