@MrSm2400 people know how good Darren Jesse is but this is on Ben Folds The Best Imitation Of Myself lets credit Ben Folds Five as a whole and not publicize other bands...

@pianoshizzle Hotel Lights has released three studio albums already. Ben and Jessee co-wrote "Brick" and "Song for the Dumped" not to mention Darren Jessee's "Magic".
Ben Folds Five have always included Jessee's work and I'm glad they're playing with Ben again too, but Hotel Lights is a fantastic band and deserves distinction.

@ndonolli In fact, the other new song 'Tell Me What I Did' was written by Robert Sledge when Ben Folds Five were still a group. However, I don't think they recorded it (I've only heard the a version of it). Robert took it to his new band, International Orange and they recorded it. So I now suppose we're going to get a more rounded sound from Ben Folds Five now as they are including Hotel Lights + International Orange material and style.

@mjiantor This is a Hotel Lights songs? I did not know that. Hopefully BFF will use more of Darren or Robert's songs more on this new album, as much as I love Fold's compositions. But Hotel Lights is great and I think it would translate great to BFF's sound.

In case nobody knows, this is originally a Hotel Lights song (Darren Jessee's band). I'm still digging it, and I hope that the time the band has spent apart leads to some interesting new material.

obviously there will be comparisons, but both are done by two different people and are equally are as good.
hotel lights and ben folds five are different. darren's version is more simplistic while ben's version adds more. i love that i can enjoy both for what they are and not have one favoured over the other.
i do hope that they get back together and record new music together because it's long overdue! :)

@DeathJake34 as much as i love B. folds, i kind of agree. i just don't think it outdoes the original. can't say this is bad at all though
