The New School open guard and using it to:
1.Try and stand up and get out of guard
2.Utilising a cross grip pop to take bring them down using a push-pull idea, then:
1. Take the back
2. Sweep Butterfly
3. Sweep Half Guard Sweep
4. Take the back and flatten them out.
5. Arm spin turnover

This is great. Question though, is the threat of your opponent cross gripping your close ankle a bigger problem here than classical open/butterfly guard? It seems that having an exaggerated open guard like this could make it easier to sweep because there is more distance to make up to counter and your weight is distributed differently. Even if thats the case, I can see the other benefits though.
I'll try it out in class tomorrow morning though, looks tight.
