Dr. James L. Campbell Jr., MD discusses Pityriasis Rosea Introduction. See more at http://www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!!
Pityriasis Rosea is a common, self-limited, usually asymptomatic, clinically distinctive papulosquamous eruption. More than 75% of patients are between 10 and 35 years of age. Many patients

report a mild prodrome or upper respiratory illness within a month of onset.

The onset and clinical course are quite distinctive. The first lesion or herald patch appears, most often on the

trunk. The lesion is an oval plaque of 1 to 3 cm in diameter, which develops a thin collarette of residual scale inside the border. 1 to 2 weeks later numerous similar but smaller lesions begin

to appear and reach a maximum number within 2 weeks while the herald patch is still present. Lesions usually clear spontaneously in 4 to 12 weeks, without scarring, although postinflammatory

pigmentary changes may take months to resolve in darker-skinned people. Seasonal cases in the spring and fall within the community suggest a viral etiology, though this has not been confirmed.

Limited outbreaks have occurred in close quarters such as fraternity houses and military barracks.

  • @dayziah1 use head and shoulders as a body was-start tanning, also use lotion after you shower when the lotion drys put cortico steriod cream you can get over the counter on the red spots. Its will be gone before you know it.

  • @TheLoukyyyy I brought the lotion and showre gel from Aveeno. It works good for me. It cost but its worth it. Dont itch as much.

  • Im about to go out my mind with this crap! Its all over my back, shoulders, down my thigh,up my neck.

  • @larissaayo is it still there??

  • @ninjanaruto03 how long did it end up lasting for you??

  • @Joannaxxxx thanks ! ill ask my doctor if i should try that. although, they gave me some lotion that's been working really good.

  • This shit sucks can't even enjoy a hot shower anymore without this crap bugging!

  • @larissaayo I had this in april and found a good treatment for this. I showered my body with Head and Shoulders shampoo every day ( its got the right chemicals in it) and went on a sun bed 3 times - my condition improved within 7 days. It was horrendous but the Head and shoulders really helped.

  • i have this...and i hate it...glad it's nothing worse though.

  • A few days ago i got this rash. My doctor prescribed me some moisturizer Diprobase Cream and recommended me to buy Calamine lotion and some Allergy Relief. None of them is helping and it is still itching and ive got even some more rash on my arms. I guess the best way is to leave it and just to wait for it to disappear. The worst thing is that i am gonna have this for at least several weeks, damn it :-(
