Delegates from the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China met in Brussels to turn up the heat on Iran. Tehran says its uranium enrichment program is for peaceful purposes, but other countries worry that it gives Iran the ability to make an atomic bomb. Trita Parsi joins Daljit Dhaliwal to discuss the possibility of new sanctions. http://worldfocus.org/blog/2009/11/20/world-powers-tame-irans-uranium-enrichm...

  • Trita Parsi is a traitor to Iranian> NIAC has only 300 members in US. He is not representing the Iranian in the US.

  • but in the end, if this won't lead to a total 3rd world war, you know, with usa and europe against russia, china and the islamic countries, i think the communists countries are going to stay neutral as long as it's possible. but in the end, the common ground with the western societies is brighter.. heavy times, that's for sure..

  • the role that china and russia is going to play, will be interesting to see. till now they kind of play it safe. though russia starts to make a bid more pressure on iran. i don't think, america will be alone in this. europe isn't amused also about iran going nuclear. and i can't imagine really china fancies that idea. maybe they'll be the last ones who'll give in to a war against iran.

  • carryall in war it can be viewed as fathers shooting at fathers. Also the costs we normally don't hear about about is the money it takes to treat a disabled/wounded veterans. So all this rush to war has its hidden costs and unforseen consequences. It is out of my hands regardless of what happens and I'd hope some rational decisions are made down the road. May it all play out the right way in this century.

  • i know your point. and in a way i agree. like who wants to go to war? but diplomacy is going on now for a while. and it brought not only nothing to the table, but in a way, it only shows, that it gave them only more time to proceed.. there is no common ground. on the one side, you have secular grounded democracies, and on the other you have religiously vindicated despotism. if only a clash could be avoidable..

  • well let's define world community and how much influence Russia/China really have in ruling out an attack on Iran. Pre-emptive strike against Iran might have some grave consequences and honestly the U.S. going it alone will be a very stupid move to make. Boost missle defenses as a precaution, but don't send troops in there as an occupying force. Also you can't change Muslim customs be force. The people have to effect that. That is how I see and your counterview is also respected.

  • the unfortunate thing carryall69 is that I'm not in any form of intelligence/military command or capability and don't know what goes on behind the scenes so primarily whatever happens will happen and hopefully it is the right move which doesn't cost more loss of lives on either side or forces us to keep spending money we don't have.

  • it's a footrace against time. maybe the people in iran will manage to overthrow their theocratic regime and find a way to democracy before it'll be too late. but this looks, in the timeframe that's left before the regime will be able to finish building a nuclear bomb, very much like a wonder. does the world-community has the luxury to find it out naturally?

  • carryall60, regime change and occupying are not the best ways to go about changing the situation. The citizens of the country really have to effect the change. If the U.S. is really that concerned about being nuked, then perhaps it should engage in more hefty diplomacy through the U.N. and/or work on boosting its defensive capabilities vs. starting long term wars. That is one way to see it. Iran will have to make the first moves should it use nuclear weapons.

  • that's for sure, it'll cost a lot. another question is, what will it cost either way? what will it cost if we act now, never or later? fact is, that a nuclear armed iran is a serious threat. it's a hole different level to deal with, than it's now.. and as far as the world community has seen, the consequences are unratable..
