@IamJacksSTD Simon Belmont wasnt the first to fight dracula, Trevor from the 3rd game was (making it a prequel) Simon also was cursed at the end of the first game, and the only way to break it was to find all dracula's body parts in the second, so from 1 to 2 a 100 yrs did not pass. hope this answered your question as it did boggle my mind at a moment too lol

@IamJacksSTD Castlevania 2 was a sequel which he had to revive Dracula. Super Castlevania 4 is a remake of Castlevania 1.

Wait a second. Simon fought Dracula three times. If Dracula only revives once every hundred years, that means that Simon Belmont has to be at least 300 years old. Either that or he's not a very good vampire hunter as he failed to kill Dracula twice. Or the Belmont family couldn't think of any other first names until Trevor and Richter came along.
