This video is mainly a help for new users.
It will go over: checking for EMI and how to deal with it, Ground Balancing and using the Ground Probe to determine the ground mineralization and type of mineralization, Finding the best filter for your ground (really the main point of the video), a little bit on recovery delay and sensitivity zoom.

Note - Confirmed by White's; You do not have to re-ground balance when changing filters.

Enjoy,
EMS

  • Great work there EMS to show people how to use the "onboard tools" as I like to call them. I've developed a good feel for setting up my V3i using them. Once someone understands the data from ground and sensitivity probes it is possible to dial in the filter without having to always test a buried target - (natural find of a coin like target 5" - 6" preferred) but helpful to do it. My soil reads the same as yours -91 to -94 and is usually around 3%. One thing I have gained huge respect for i

  • @Ytcoinshooter - I remember you! ehehh Thanks. How have your VDI's been on deeper targets? I know now to dig the jumpier ones (in our soil). They may really really jump, but the good sound will be there. Huge respect for?

  • I don't even own a V3i yet, but this helps immensely! Keep up the videos and your posts, we'll see ya on the forum!

  • @trofazz - Thanks Travis. Let me just add that I have worries about autotrack and getting optimal depth. So, if you get a V3i run autotrack vs locktrack on a deep target and find out what is best for your soil. And get those filters right!

  • Dang, I didn't realize that I have limited space for comments. Put quite a bit in my first comment then posted only to find it truncated / cut most of it off! Anyway I'm sure at some point my previous thoughts will return! My huge respect comment regards the low gain (4-6 range) clear deep signals, no ground noise using the disc sense to drive it deep!

  • I rely on the sound for deeper targets. The spectra-graph helps, but the predominant bar in pinpoint has been a huge help. I can accurately tell aluminum from coins. Deep coin hit with jumpy vdi and a longest 7.5kHz pinpoint bar and I'll dig to verify the first few at a site. some turn out to be round tabs with the tail intact but folded over the center opening. Very cool. The analyze screen as u know isn't good for real deep ID'ing..but the pinpoint bars are very good. I have a couple more th
