To commemorate 4 1/2 seasons of Gossip Girl, and more importantly, Dair, I have compiled to be what I THINK are the best 30 Dair moments thus far. I define a "moment" as being either a scene that best defines their relationship or a significant turning point in their relationship, and a "moment" can entail 2-3 different scenes that are all tied together in some way.

10. "Empire of the Son" 4.17

Everything about this scene worked. The song, Dan's hesitation, Blair's "for crying out loud Humphrey!" and of course that freeze frame that leaves the audience daring to Dair.

9. "Memoirs of an Invisible Dan" 5.04

For those who say Dair has no chemistry, they need to watch this scene! While this moment didn't actually happen, it does show how Dan feels about Blair, and how he would've wanted things to play out. Blair's feelings seem to be more apparent towards the end though ...

8. "It-Girl Happened One Night" 4.15

I think the entire scene really sets up the moment and shows that Dan and Blair don't just act on whims. Blair is hurt by how easily Chuck gives his heart to another girl. Dan can see that, he knows how it feels. He straightens his tie, hesitates, and then slowly goes in for the hand hold. Blair is not ready yet, but it looks like she seriously second guessed letting go.

7. "It-Girl Happened One Night" 4.15

A classic Dair scene with a little "When Harry Met Sally" thrown in.

6. "While You Weren't Sleeping" 4.16

This scene is a lot like the "dictator of taste" scene. But I included this one in the top ten because it is the first time Blair goes to Dan's loft for herself and not Serena. Plus sleeping on the couch together was a precious moment for fans and I believe converted many a Dair shipper.

5. "Yes, Then Zero" 5.01

DAN REALIZES HE IS IN LOVE WITH BLAIR

4. "Riding in Town Cars with Boys" 5.10

I considered putting this scene in the bottom ten only because it seems really one-sided on Dan's part. However, it does show the audience the extent of his love and of course all loft scenes are golden.

3. "Beauty and the Feast" 5.02

Speaking of loft scenes! The look that Blair gives Dan after he says she will still have him, is not a look I have seen her give anyone else on the show.

2. "Riding in Town Cars with Boys" 5.10

Dan and Blair share their first hug. And even though he smells like onions, and she is crying over another man, I think they both have a moment where they ask themselves if this is really happening.

This is also the moment where Dan goes directly against all his former advice to "take a risk and maybe have everything", "follow the signs", and of course the "she'd know how I felt."This moment changes Gossip Girl from being a flighty teen drama, to a lesson on how to love.

1. "Bad News Blair" 1.04

This scene gets better with age. The writers have admitted that this was the first time they even considered Blair and Dan as a couple. If Penn and Leighton hadn't done such a fantastic job here, we might have never known Dair. In this moment Blair is just an emotional girl and Dan is just a guy who wants to help. How could they ever know that 4-5 years from then that they would be where they are now.

wow-just finished watching the last part of this DAIR series and for some reason was expecting something totally else for number 1 scene, but when I saw the scene with the prior context of Serena and Blair and how Dan chose to comfort Blair-it was like the beginning of a great love story.

@womanwarrior0 Yeah I it was really important for me to add in that Serena fight scene to give context to how Dan sees Blair so vulnerable. He sees past all the teasing and fighting and is able to confide in her. And the fact that Blair ALLOWS herself to be vulnerable with Dan speaks volumes about how she sees and respects him as a person she can trust. They both have this amazing understanding of one another that is so natural. Sorry for the long post lol I could talk about Dair all day!
